Larry Joe Kubacak, age 64, of West, passed away late Tuesday morning, November 8, 2016 at St. Catherine's Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Larry was born August 29, 1952 in Hillsboro the son of Joseph and Annie (Schutza) Kubacak. He attended school in Abbott. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He was also a honorary member of the West Volunteer Fire Department and loved to ride in the fire truck in all West parades. He enjoyed playing the accordion, old car and trucks, putting model cars together and listening to polka music and the scanner. He especially loved visiting with his family and friends. Larry is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nona Jean Gerik. Survivors include nieces, Amanda Bettge Gilbert and husband Brad of Elm Mott, Jeanne Anderson and husband Bryan of West and Cathy (Gerik) Jeffers and husband Buddy of West; nephews, Marvin Gerik Jr. and wife Donna, David Gerik and wife Jennifer and Chris Gerik, all of West; a brother-in-law, Marvin Gerik Sr.; an uncle and aunt, Eddie and Velma Schuetz; many great nieces, great nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Kevin Bettge, Tyler Bettge, Denton Gerik, Cole Anderson, Kaden Anderson, Daniel Gerik and Jared Rochester. Honorary pallbearers are members of the West Volunteer Fire Department. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Volunteer Fire Department.
