Larry Holecek, age 81, of West, passed away late Friday night, March 1, 2019 at his residence. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery near Aquilla, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. Larry was born March 31, 1937 in West, the son of Jerry and Rosie (Juroch) Holecek. He attended West schools and West High School. Larry served his country with the United States Army, stationed in many places including Germany. On July 8, 1957 he was united in marriage to Mollie Scott in Waco. Larry was a carpenter and worked for many construction companies including Goldsmith Construction for several years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Larry enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, doing yard work, hunting, and all outdoor recreational activities. He especially loved to smile and laugh. Larry is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Marcella George; and brothers, Henry Holecek and L. A. Holecek. Survivors include his beloved wife of 62 years, Mollie Holecek of West; his children, Paula Kinnas of West and her former husband, James Kinnas and Stephen S. Holecek and wife, Melody of Riesel; sisters, Mary Ann Hykel and Milada Mazanec; grandchildren, Christopher Kinnas, Jason Kinnas, Holly Holecek, and Zack Holecek and girlfriend, Kimberly Hedstrom; a great-granddaughter, Molly Hedstrom; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are David Holecek, Jimmy Holecek, Jeffrey George, Jerry Mazanec, Travis Scott, David Scott, Tim Scott and Scott Kapczynski. Honorary pallbearers are Larry Hykel, George Hykel, T.J. Holecek, Nathan Holecek, Mike Mazanec, Rusty George, Gregory Holecek, Richard Scott, Matt McGee and Dwane Barr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
