Kenny Kunkel, age 61, of Elm Mott, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 25, 2018 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery near Elm Mott. The family will receive visitors Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Kenny was born July 20, 1957 in Waco, the son of the late Roy and Elizabeth (Flaherty) Kunkel. He was a 1975 graduate of Connally High School. On Apirl 2, 1982 he was united in marriage to Julie Hill in Waco. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #67. Kenny worked for Monthie Metals in Elm Mott for the past few years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, being outdoors, camping and playing dominoes. Kenny loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially taking them fishing and hunting. He like to make the rounds around West, checking on all his buddies. Survivors include his beloved wife of 36 years, Julie Kunkel of Elm Mott; sons, Karl Kunkel and wife Sara of West and Kurt Kunkel and fiancee Erika Karlik of West; a sister, Diane McCleary and husband Mike; two brothers, Ronald Kunkel and Billy R. Kunkel and wife Marie; grandchildren, Jodi, Alec and Lane Kunkel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Kyle McCleary, Brian McCleary, Kevin McCleary, Jason Kunkel, Christopher Kunkel and Kody Kunkel. Honorary pallbearers are Clyde Vrba, Mickey Kelinske, Larry Lassetter, Steve Kalina, Tommy Kalina, George Crawshaw, Dale Burnham and E.J. Holecek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elm Mott Volunteer Fire Department or Gerald Cemetery Association.
