Kenneth Schroeder

Kenneth Schroeder, age 66, of Elm Mott, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Temple. A rosary will be recited and Funeral Services held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery near Tours, conducted by the West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. Monday until service time. Mr. Schroeder was born September 15, 1944 in Tours, the son of Benjamin A. and Wilhelmina (Otto) Schroeder. He attended schools in West and graduated West High School before attending Hill Junior College where he majored in music. He served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On December 31, 1966 he was united in marriage to Linda Langston in Waco. Kenneth was a mechanic for over 40 years, working for Maynard Phillips Toyota, Don Ringler in Temple, and Waco Nissan. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Kenneth enjoyed fishing, camping, dirt track racing, and boating. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Linda Schroeder of Elm Mott; two sons, Jerry Lee Schroeder and wife Christy of Lacy Lakeview and Curtis Wayne "B.J." Schroeder and wife Theresa of Bellmead; a daughter, Kelly Schroeder of Elm Mott; three brothers, Donald Schroeder and wife Betty of Teague, John Schroeder and wife Diane of Leroy, and Larry Schroeder and wife Sandy of Dallas; three sisters, Delores Sherwood and husband Ed of Boerne, Janette Griffin and husband Glen of China Spring, and Cathy Patterson of West; four grandchildren, Brandon Lee Schroeder, Shelby Schroeder, Cameron Schroeder, and Justin Mahoney, and two more on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Cameron Schroeder, Shelby Schroeder, Eric Zubicek, David Johnson, Jim Hammack, Ronnie Warren, and Steven Auston. Honorary pallbearers are Brandon Lee Schroeder and Justin Mahoney. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
