Kenneth G. Rape, age 70, of Aquilla, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 25, 2012. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Prairie Grove Cemetery near Aquilla, with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Kenneth was born February 13, 1942 in Hill County, the son of Glendel F. Rape and Bertha Faye (Crow) Rape Lookingbill. He attended Bethel Elementary School and was a 1961 graduate of Whitney High School. On June 23, 1962 he was united in marriage to Eddie Lois Baker in Aquilla. Kenneth worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 24 years before retiring in 1998. He also worked for the A.O. Smith Bomb Plant, General Dynamics, Dugan Trailers, Waco Construction Company and the MKT Railroad. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was a former member of the West Masonic Lodge No. 475 and a 32 Degree Mason. Kenneth enjoyed raising game chickens and sheep, fishing, hunting, and watching the Texas Rangers. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Harry Lookingbill; and a great grandson, Hunter Matus. Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Eddie Lois Rape of Aquilla; two daughters, Melissa Matus Hollister and husband Chris of Hallsburg and Ali Shilling and husband Tommy of Bosqueville; two sons, Kenneth Ray Rape and wife Janeen of West and Jeff Armstrong and wife Krystal of Axtell; two brothers, Eldon R. Reed of Friona and Paul L. Thompson and wife Leslie of Arlington; a sister, Barbara Ann Rape of Arlington; grandchildren, Keith Matus and wife Mandy, Matthew Matus, Kaitlin Matus and Garrett Nors, Kendall Goodwin and husband Cody, Kara Shilling, Cole Shilling, Kacie Shilling, Ricky Thomason and wife Jennisty, Staci Lowrie, Miranda Rape, Jeffery Armstrong, and Jessilyn Armstrong; great grandchildren, Makayla, Reagan, Kinslee, Rilee and a baby on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Matus, Matthew Matus, Ricky Thomason, Jeffery Armstrong, Cole Shilling, Wade Reeb, Mica Pogue, Fred Nichols, Justin Harrison and Nolan "Junior" Saulter. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church Building Fund or the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
