Captain Kenneth "Luckey" Harris, Jr., age 52, of West, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2013, while providing the ultimate sacrifice to the Community of West. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. John Rambeau officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Assumption in West. Luckey will lie in state beginning 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 22, at Aderhold Funeral Home. On Wednesday April 24, 2013 Luckey will lie in state beginning at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West until service time. Luckey was born November 21, 1960 in Killeen, Texas, the son of Kenneth Luckey, Sr. and Scottie Lou (Vardiman) Harris. In 1979, he graduated from Crawford High School and went on to attend McLennan County Community College until he was accepted into the Dallas Fire Academy. On October 13, 1984, he married Holly Dannette Cash in McGregor. Luckey graduated from the Dallas Fire Academy in 1982 and served as a firefighter with the Dallas Fire Department for over 31 years, attaining the rank of Captain. He also owned Harris Home Inspections and Construction with his family. Luckey loved offshore fishing with his sons and spending time on his boat the "Boots Up." He also enjoyed hunting, traveling and spending time with friends. He was a member of High Point Church in Waco and the Dallas Firefighters Association-Local 58. Survivors include his beloved wife of 28 years, Holly Harris of West; three sons, Jud Harris of Grapevine, and Jarrod Harris and Heath Harris, both of Midland; mother, Scottie Isham and husband Emory of West; father, Ken Harris and wife Annita of Crawford; sisters, Anne Harris of Quinlan and Carmen Burkhart and husband, Brian of Hutto, Texas; three nieces, Abbey Hunt and husband, Jeff, Bethany Grubb and fianc, Jay Baker, and Andrea Burkhart; nephew Perry Burkhart and great nephew Hayden Hunt. Active pallbearers will Barry Baize, Randy Ellison, Ike Griffith, Ronnie Grubb, Ronnie Janek, Kevin King, Mike Mattlage, Ken Paxton, Tim Sullivan, and Andy Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the Station 30 Crew and the City of Dallas Fire Department.
