Keller Dennis, Jr., age 94, of Leroy, passed away early Tuesday morning, September 26, 2023 at Willow Park Nursing Home in Clifton.
Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 29, 2023 at White Rock Cemetery in Ross, with Rev. Jeff Richter officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.
Keller was born November 9, 1928 in Iredell, the son of Keller and Sally (Royal) Dennis. He attended schools in China Spring, Bosqueville, and Wortham Bend. On September 20, 1948 he was united in marriage to Betty May in Waco. Betty preceded him in death on July 16, 2016. Keller proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He received a World War II Victory Medal, Occupation Medal, a Korean Service Medal, 3 Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantry Badge. Following his time in the service, he and Betty resided in Leroy for many years, where they raised their family. Keller owned Dennis Brothers Plumbing for 40 years. Keller enjoyed living in the Leroy area for 56 years where he raised cattle. He had a huge garden where he supplied his kids and friends with the best peaches and cantaloupes along with his famous onions and tomatoes.
Keller is also preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty; a daughter, Paula Clements; brothers, Richard Dennis, James Dennis, W. C. Dennis, Alfred Dennis, and Jimmy Dennis; sisters, Martha Dennis, Sadie Young, Loraine Dennis, Maudaine Morris, Logene Murray, and Beverly Dennis.
Survivors include his children, Allen and Mary Jane Dennis of Waco, Donna Stanley of China Spring, and Dale and Sheilah Dennis of Leroy; nine grandchildren, Mike and Debbie Dennis, Michelle and Jeff Richter, Rachel and Gary Moore, Miranda and Mike Robichaux, Jeremy and Sandra Clements, Keller and Jasmine Clements, Dale and Ann Dennis, Sonya and Edward Cerne, and Dena and Steve Grubbs; 21 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Research Foundation.
