February 1, 1916 — March 26, 2009

Kathleen "Zoebelle" (Hickman) Baskin, age 93, of Waco, passed away late Thursday evening, March 26, 2009 in Waco. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday at Ater Cemetery near Gatesville, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Zoe was born on February 1, 1916 in Bosque County, the daughter of John L. and Margaret Lee (Hickman) Hickman. She attended Lorena High School. On June 2, 1951, she was united in marriage to John Rae Baskin at her parent's home in Hewitt. Zoe was a homemaker, and as a young woman, she served her community by working at a local doctor's office. She loved children, so she and her husband dedicated six years as loving, caregiving home-parents to young boys at the Children's Methodist Home. She loved being a homemaker, tending her garden, reading, and was especially known for her hand crafts, crocheting, knitting and sewing. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Rae Baskin; two brothers, John H. Hickman and Raymond Hickman; her sister, Margaret Nevielene Morgan; two nephews, Kenneth Hickman and Raymond Lee Hickman; and her great-nephew, David John Hickman, Jr. Survivors include two nephews, David John Hickman and wife Carol and Thomas Hickman; four nieces, Marilyn Sexton and husband Albert, Mary Lynn Christiana and husband Stephen, Cheryl Andrews, and Debbie McCollough and husband Rudy; and several great-nieces and nephews and her extended family Roy Davis and wife Connie, Brad Davis and wife Melanie and their son, Cole, John Davis and wife Molly and their daughter, Avery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her friends and caregivers at Ridgecrest Retirement and Health Care and Providence Hospice.
