Katherine Katie Gant

Katherine Michelle "Katie" Gant, age 17, of West, passed away late Friday night, November 14, 2008 near West. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Katie was born on April 24, 1991 in West, the daughter of Michael and Leisa (Vasser) Gant and granddaughter of the late Don and Fay Gant. She was Senior and Honor Student at West High School, where she was in the top 10 percent of her class and was planning to attend college to be an automotive engineer. She was working as an administrative assistant for Greg May Chevrolet in West. Katie was a member of the Student Council, One Act Play, where she was stage manager her junior year, and Class Officer. Katie was also involved in athletics, playing volleyball, tennis, and running track. She loved cars, watching scary movies, spending time with her grandparents, and hanging out with her friends. Katie was also a member of First Baptist Church of West. Survivors include her parents, Michael and Leisa Gant of West; her grandparents, Hollis and Eunice Vasser of Waco; one sister, Amanda Gant Middlebrook and husband Eddie of Ft. Worth; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends in the West and Waco area. Active Pallbearers will be Jeff Stafford, Jason Buckner, Jeremy Buckner, Melanie Stafford, Kristi Patterson, Lacy Patterson, and Chris Reed. Honorary Pallbearers will be the West High School Senior Class of 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
