Juanita Cook, age 83, of West, passed away Saturday morning, September 15, 2007 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek and Bobby Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Juanita was born October 1, 1923 in Waco, the daughter of Hubert and Ona Elizabeth (Anderson) Hatcher. She graduated from Waco High School. On August 12, 1942, she married Henry Doyle Cook in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death on October 16, 1999. She worked for Sears & Roebuck Company in Waco for over twenty-five years until her retirement in 1977. She was a member and currently served as Secretary/Treasurer of West Fair & Rodeo Association for over thirty years. The Rodeo Association was her life and she enjoyed watching the youth rodeos. Juanita was an animal lover and took in all of the homeless strays that came her way. She enjoyed spending time with family and was very involved in organizing the Cook Reunion each year. She was also a member of Sears Retiree Association and they would keep in touch and get together once month for a meal. She is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Nikki Cook, who died on March 4, 1996; and two brothers, Bill Hatcher and Gary Hatcher. Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Doyle Cook and Michael Don Cook and wife Joy, all of West; one grandson, Cody Michael Cook of West; two brothers, Larry Hatcher and Jerry Hatcher, both of Ft. Worth; three sisters, Mary Ann Schoffler, Sandra Hill and Rene Martin, all of Hewitt; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Billy Ward, Kenneth Cook, Mike Cook, Cody Cook, Larry Hatcher and Jerry Hatcher. Honorary pallbearers will be West Fair & Rodeo Association, Dr. Leslie Cook, Odell Cook, Pat Cook and Dr. J. B. Cook. Memorials may be made to Fuzzy Friends, West Ambulance Association or to the charity of your choice.
