Juanda Fe Safley

Juanda Fe Safley, age 87, of Gholson, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, January 18, 2022, at Providence Hospital in Waco. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson, with Rev. Todd Pick officiating and music by Marilyn Whitaker and Tony Golmon. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Juanda was born November 21, 1934, in Williamson County near Leander, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Ollie Gertrude (King) Robinson. She was raised in Belton where she graduated and served as drum major from Belton High School and attended Mary Hardin-Baylor University. She later worked for the Bell County clerk's office in Belton. On January 18, 1957, she was united in marriage to Wayne Mitchell Safley and they made their home in Waco. She retired from the Owens-Illinois Glass Plant in 1994. They then moved to the Gholson area and became members of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church where she served as the minister of music for many years. There she dedicated a lot of her time and dearly loved her church family. Juanda was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eddie Lee Robinson and John King Robinson; a sister, Lou O'Neal; and a grandson, Kristopher Safley. Survivors include her beloved husband of 65 years, Wayne M. Safley of Gholson; a daughter, Dona Fe Myers of Waco; a son, Robert "Bobby" Safley of Waco; granddaughters, Shaylah Rae Enge and her husband Erik, Brean Allen Childress, and Kristina Safley; a great grandson, Lukas Enge; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Walt Ballew, Butch Briscoe, Justin Buzbee, Terry Buzbee, Bryan Flynn, and Troy Koch. Memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Music Ministry.
