Joyce Pinter, age 72, of West, passed away late Monday morning, November 19, 2007 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at West Church of Christ with Minister Bob Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. Joyce was born January 9, 1935 in West, the daughter of Lonnie and Ruby Lena (Herring) Hill. She attended West schools. On October 4, 1952 she was united in marriage to Sam Pinter in Waco. Joyce was a homemaker and stay at home Mom. She was very active in her children's lives and coached the Maler's Sinclair Softball Team and was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. At the age of 45 she went back to school and received her Licensed Vocational Nursing Certification. She then worked for several years at West Community Hospital then for West Rest Haven, where she was known as a very dedicated, loving, and compassionate nurse to the residents. After several years there she was in charge of training nurse aides. Joyce was a devoted Christian and was a member of the West Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School. She enjoyed her animals and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; nieces, Glenda and Kelly Morgan; a sister-in-law, Mary Johnson; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Morgan. Survivors include her beloved husband of 55 years, Sam Pinter of West; one son, Sammy Pinter and wife Kathy of Arlington; two daughters, Patsy Barnes and husband Loyd of Austin and Debbie Polansky and husband Freddie of West; two brothers, Al Johnson of Burleson and Wiley Hill and wife Vanita of San Antonio; a sister-in-law, Patsy Morgan of West; her dog, Baby; eight grandchildren, Jason Pinter, Cory Pinter, Tameka Thomas, Teanna Roland, Andrea Olschwka, Daniel Barnes, Jacob Polansky, and Colton Polansky; seven great grandchildren, Kierra, Keenen, Mikaya, Braylon, Justin, Alora, and David; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Daniel Barnes, Jacob Polansky, Tommy Johnson, James Johnson, David Johnson, Darrell Johnson, and Cory Pinter. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Waco Humane Society.
