Joyce Currie West

Joyce (Currie) West, age 65, of Gholson, passed away early Saturday morning, April 4, 2009 at Quality Care in Waco. Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2009 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Bishop Nathan Hilton officiating. Mrs. West was born on December 22, 1943 in Hearne, the daughter of Ollie and Mildred Currie. She attended schools in Bryan. On June 18, 1960, she was united in marriage to Wilton Edward West in Dallas. Joyce was a homemaker who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also worked as a waitress, volunteered for the local Special Olympics, and enjoyed cooking. Joyce was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Waco. She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Gordon West; a brother, Anthony Currie; and a sister, Doris Fairman. Survivors include her beloved husband of 48 years, Wilton West of Gholson; a son, Chris West of Dallas; three daughters, Tina Rhodes and husband Bob of Quinton, OK, Lou Ann West and Margaret Jackson, both of Gholson; a brother, Robert Currie of Riesel; two sisters, Barbara Currie of Gonzales and Darlene Sumrow of Houston; six grandchildren, Brittany Schuetz, Justin Schuetz, Sara Hard, Tiffany Jackson, Gordon West Jr. and Seth West; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
