Josephine R. "Josie" Young, age 84, of West, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 18, 2020 at her residence. A rosary will be recited 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West by Deacon Ronnie Sykora, followed by a come and go visitation until 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrant. Masks and social distancing required at services. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Josie was born August 25, 1935 in West, the daughter of Valerian and Annie (Picha) Sulak. She attended schools in West. On June 1, 1957 she was united in marriage to Charlie Young in West. Charlie preceded her in death on June 25, 2007. Josie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of West VFW Post 4819 Ladies Auxiliary and former member of the West Longhorn Club. Josie worked for the Emporium and West Food Mart for many years until her retirement. She enjoyed gambling with her family and friends, dancing and listening to Czech music, working in her garden and canning. Josie loved making chicken noodle soup for family gatherings and especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Josie is also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Celestyn J. Sulak, Valerian Sulak, and Wesley Sulak; and her sisters, Annie Doskocil and Marcella Kucera. Survivors include her children, Charlotte Howard and her husband Robert of Tokio; Rodney Young and his wife Rebecca of Waco, and Dwayne Young and his wife Christine and Timothy Young, all of Tokio; her grandchildren, Shawn Young and his wife Amber, Cassandra Young and her fiancé Dustin Wells, Misty Munday and her husband Marshall, Christina Howard, Kerri Walpole and her husband Jason, Jeremy Sterling and his wife Stephanie, and Colton Watson; great grandchildren, Alex, Brailyn, Sheri, Kaitlyn, Makayla, Sophia, Levi, Savannah, Jaycie, Alyssa, Braden, Brailey, Cooper, Jason, and Jayden; a sister, Dorothy Arnold and her husband Ralph; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Shawn Young, Dustin Wells, Phillip Holt, Jason Walpole, Ernest Castro, Randall Ballew Jr. and Jeff Taylor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
