Josephine Kubala, age 99, of West, passed away late Friday evening, July 23, 2021 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July, 28, 2021 at St. Mary's Cemetery with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating. Josephine was born December 21, 1921 in West, the daughter of John and Frances (Kallus) Bezdek. She was a graduate of St. Mary's Catholic School and West High School. On February 6, 1945 she was united in marriage to Eddie Kubala in West. Eddie preceded her in death on December 20, 2001. Josephine was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of St. Anne's Altar Society, KJZT St. Ludmila Society #11, and the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. Josephine was a homemaker, mother, wonderful baker and helped her husband on the family farm. She enjoyed the wonders of nature, keeping up with family history, and writing. She loved spending time with her family, especially playing baseball with her grandchildren in her younger years. Josephine is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Mary Jo Lawson; a son, John Kubala; sons-in-law, Jerry Matus and Tommy Tipton; brothers, Harry Bezdek, John Bezdek, and Jim Bezdek; and sisters, Mary Bezdek, Wilma Bezdek, Sister Alice Marie Bezdek, Bessie Lichnovsky, Helen Gresham, and Rose Bezdek. Survivors include her children, George Kubala and wife Shirley of West, James Kubala and wife Karla of Leory, Fran Matus of Waco, Joan Tipton of Austin, Edward Kubala and wife Helen of Abbott, Mark Kubala and wife Edith of West, and Jo Polansky and husband Bill of West; a sister, Lillian Urbanovsky; grandchildren, Dawn Lawson, Dwan Carr and husband Ben, D'Lana Albright and husband Steve, Jonathan Kubala and wife Lindsey, Melissa Ivey, Kayla Maynard and husband J.D., Joseph Matus and wife Debra, Tammy Richard, Karen Tipton, Scott Kubala and wife Rachel, Caleb Kubala, Colby Kubala and wife Erin, Amanda Rigney and husband Brandon, Wendy Sustala and husband Craig, Emily Polansky, and Billy Polansky; 25 great grandchildren; 5 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to charity of your choice.
