Josephine Bailey

Josephine Elizabeth Bailey, age 79, of Aquilla, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, May 5, 2010 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. B. George as celebrant. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Josephine was born on February 6, 1931 in Glen Ullin, North Dakota, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Lane) Schafer. On December 28, 1948 she was united in marriage to George Elmer Bailey, Jr. in Glen Ullin. Josephine was a homemaker for most of her life and also worked as a seamstress for the Laguna Park Sewing Factory. Josephine had many friends and family members that she loved and she was loved by many. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. Jospehine was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John Schafer and Paul Schafer; and two sisters, Helen Erhart and Clara Plunkett. Survivors include her beloved husband of 61 years, George Bailey, Jr. of Aquilla; three sons, Dennis Bailey of Boise, Idaho, Donald Bailey of Aquilla, and Dale Bailey of Sandy, Utah; three daughters, Deborah Bailey of Euless, Donna Bailey of Beaumont, and Diana Austin of Plano; three brothers, Peter Schafer of Reton, Washington, Frank Schafer of Glen Ullin, North Dakota, and Clem Schafer of Ephrate, Washington; a sister; Martina Bleth of Dickinson, North Dakota; fifteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. The family wishes to give a very special thank you to her good friend, Barbara Vrba and to the staff of West Rest Haven for the many years of extra special love and care.
