Joseph L. Laubert Sr., age 74, of West, passed away late Wednesday evening, June 23, 2010 at his residence. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery, conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. Mr. Laubert was born August 17, 1935 in McLennan County, the son of Peter and Josephine (Niekamp) Laubert. He attended Tours and West Schools. Joe served his country with the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1959. On May 28, 1960, he was united in marriage to Veronica Grones in West. He was an electrician for General Tire and Rubber Co. in Waco for 28 years and then became an Instructor at T.S.T.C. for 11 years before retiring in 1998. Joe was also a farmer and rancher. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family. Joe was a lifetime member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector, President of St. Martin's Cemetery Association, Church Council, Picnic Organizer, and taught religion classes. He was a member of Catholic Life Branch #4; the R.V.O.S. Lodge; and West V.F.W. Post No. 4819, where he served on the Honor Guard. Joe is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Edmond Laubert and Herman Laubert. Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Vernoica Laubert of West; two sons, Joe Laubert Jr. and wife Judy of Blum and David Laubert of Hubbard; two daughters, Donna Herbert and huband Mike and Patricia Baum and husband Doug, all of Valley Mills; three brothers, Alvin Laubert and Ervin Laubert, both of West and Lawrence Laubert of Waco; four sisters, Sister Ann Bernadette of San Antonio, Angeline Henkleman of Waco, Emma Brown of Tours, and Josephine King of Dallas; six grandchildren, Tena Wright, Joe Laubert III, Vanessa Baum, Delany Baum, Hunter Herbert, and Pecos Baum; two great grandchildren, Andrew Parker and Gunner Laubert; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Kevin Brown, Joe Schroeder, Cecil Padgett, Lynn Middleton, Larry Brown, and Robert Brown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin's Cemetery Association or St. Martin's CCE Program.
