Joseph J. Joe Hutyra

Joseph J. (Joe) Hutyra, age 74 of Bellmead passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at his residence. Rosary will be recited at 12 noon Thursday, November 16th, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West; with Rev. Tim Vaverek and Rev. Ed Karasek as con-celebrants. Military graveside rites conducted by West VFW Post 4819 will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Hutyra was born November 29, 1931 in Hill County, near Abbott to Louis and Christine Cepak Hutyra and attended school in Abbott. He was retired from General Tire and Rubber Company after thirty two years of service. Mr. Hutyra was a retired Sgt. in the US Army having served in the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post 4819 of West and the American Legion of West, St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #54 of West and K.J.T. Lodge #107 of Abbott. He married Doris Petter on January 26, 1957 in Penelope. Mr. Hutyra is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ernest Hutyra and George Hutyra; and a sister Irene McGee, and a infant daughter, Linda Hutyra who died in 1960. He is survived by his wife, Doris of Bellmead; a son Gary Joe Hutyra of Bellmead, a daughter, Judy Elaine Merritt and fiance Paul Bohannon of Waco; two sisters, Mrs. Adolph (Carolyn) Gerik and Mrs. Lawrence (Helen) Schutza both of West; six grandchildren, Chad Hutyra, Emily Green, Kali Hutyra, Kandra Merritt, D.J. Merritt and Corydon Hutyra Merritt and two great-greatchildren Nolan Hutyra and Madaline Green. Active Pallbearers are Scooter Zucha, Julias Zucha, Tommy Gerik, Mike McGee, Craig Pustejovsky and Boobock Petter. Honorary Pallbearers are members of VFW Post 4819 of West. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Kotch Funeral Home in West. Memorials may be given to Hillcrest Hospice or to a charity of your choice.
