Joseph A. Cepak

Joseph A. Cepak, age 82, of Bellmead, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 26, 2015 at Ridgecrest Retirement Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with visitation to follow until 5:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Vincent Romuald as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. Joseph was born December 24, 1932, five minutes prior to his twin sister Josephine, at the family home in Abbott, to parents Albert and Agnes (Sulak) Cepak. He attended school in Abbott and was a 1951 graduate of Abbott High School where he played basketball and baseball. He helped his parents on the family farm, chopping and picking cotton, before going to work for Jerabek's Automotive in West as a mechanic and parts man. Joseph served his country with the United States Army during the Korean War. After meeting in 1952 at a dance at the SPJST Hall, he was united in marriage to JoAnn Matus on May 14, 1955 in West. Joseph worked for Tractor Supply in Waco, then in January of 1956 he went to work for General Tire and Rubber Company for 32 years, before retiring in 1988. He then worked for the next 8 years for the LaVega I.S.D. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #121. Joseph enjoyed fishing, traveling, coaching his son's baseball teams and supporting his daughters' volleyball, basketball and softball games. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger Fan and attended the 1st All Star game at the new Arlington Stadium. Joseph is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Benny Cepak, Edward Cepak and Daniel Cepak; and his twin sister, Josephine Hanzlicek. Survivors include his beloved wife of 60 years, JoAnn Cepak of Bellmead; a son, Anthony Cepak and wife Mary of Granbury; daughters, Annette Donnell and husband Mark of China Spring and Cecilia Henry and husband Sam of Ft. Worth; sisters, Alice Janecka and husband Joe and Anna Hennig; grandchildren, Taylor Rose Henry, Bradlee Cole, Nathan Cole and wife Tara, Nathan Donnell and wife Lorie and Natalie White and husband Brandon; great grandchildren, Brody, Parker, Ethan, Lane and Lyric; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund, St. Mary's Cemetery Association or the American Diabetes Association.
