Jose Marcos "Joe" Montes, age 53, of West, passed away Saturday evening, October 20, 2007 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday by Rev. Ed Karasek, followed by a prayer service by Rev. Alfredo Montes at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Joe was born on July 6, 1954 in Taft, TX, the son of Marcos Montes and Alicia Andrade. He attended schools in Lubbock and Hillsboro. On October 11, 1997 he was united in marriage to Ana Gurrola in Hillsboro. Joe was a truck driver and worked for Jupe Mills for over fourteen years. He played baseball and was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. Joe loved spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West. He is preceded in death by his father, Marcos Montes; a sister, Diana Montes; and a son, Moses Montes. Survivors include his loving wife, Ana Montes of West; his mother, Alicia Andrade of Munday; his step-mother, Elida Montes of Peoria; five sons, Joe Marcos Montes, Jr. of Ft. Worth, Billy Joe Montes and wife Carla of Longview, Timothy Joe Montes of Savanna, GA., Christopher Lee Montes of Waco, and Jonathan Lee Montes of West; two daughters, Yarely Joanna Montes and Elizabeth Montes, both of West; his mother-in-law, Sebastiana Gurrola of Mexico; seven brothers, Felipe Garcia and wife Angie of Aransas Pass, Isreal Montes and wife Vickie and Ezekiel Montes and wife Rene, all of Peoria, Marcos Montes, Jr. of Whitney, Adam Andrade of Cleburne, Johnny Andrade of Georgetown, and Robert Andrade and wife Marcela of San Angelo; nine sisters, Eva Exiga and husband Eduardo of Munday, Anna Benavides of Rochester, Dora Garcia and husband Domingo of Lubbock, Delores Sanchez and husband Robert of Houston, Thelma Valdez of Austin, Sylvia Barrientos and husband Joe of Houston, Ermalinda Avelos and husband Alex of Waco, Delia Cordova and husband Jesse of Grandview, and Soelia Mojica and husband David of Hillsboro; four grandchildren, Madilyn Montes, Trinati Montes, Maya Montes, and Tristen Montes; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers will be Enrique Chavez, Raul Chavez, Johnny Montes, Isreal Montes, Pedro Gurrola, Adam Andrade, Fred Montes, and Jerry Montes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
