Johnny Muehlstein

March 22, 1937 — November 23, 2019

Johnny Muehlstein, age 82, of Grapevine, passed away Saturday afternoon, November 23, 2019 at Baylor Scott White Hospital in Grapevine, surrounded by all his family. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Johnny was born March 22, 1937 in Penelope, the son of the late Johnny and Anne (Kolar) Muehlstein. He attended schools in Avoca and was a 1956 graduate of Avoca High School, where he excelled in basketball and was active in 4-H and FFA. He then attended the University of Dallas, where he played on the baseball and basketball teams. On January 11, 1964 he was united in marriage to Jerry Ann Urban in Dallas. Johnny was a farmer and rancher in Stamford and Grapevine areas. He was a member of St. Francis of Assissi Catholic Church in Grapevine. He was also a member of Teamster Union, the Jaycees in Plano, the Texas Southwest Cattle Raisers Association, the Texas Farm Bureau and was a past officer in the SPJST Lodge in Stamford. Johnny enjoyed being outdoors, farming and raising livestock. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was known to never meet a stranger. Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Jerry Ann Muehlstein of Grapevine; his children, Amy Walker and husband Bo of Springtown, Andy Muehlstein and wife Vickie of Hurst, Aaron Muehlstein and wife Julie of Decatur, Adrian Muehlstein and wife Kelly of Poetry, Alecia Marsh and husband David of Sanford, NC, and April Kirchenbauer and husband Mike of Grapevine; a brother, Larry Muehlstein and wife Becky; and sisters, Georgia Ann Hughes and Mildred Powell and husband Edwin. Left to honor his memory are his grandchildren, Jake, Jared, Jackson, Blake, Grant, Garrett, Grayson, Marissa, Shelby, Seth, Kaity, JD, Layton, and Keegan and great grandchildren, Ava, Gemma, Lanham, Allie and Eleanor on the way. Johnny is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are his grandsons.
