Johnnie R. Uptmore

Johnnie Ray Uptmore, age 62, of Waco, passed away late Friday morning, March 2, 2018 at St. Catherine's Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and funeral services held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Graveside services will be held 12:00 noon Wednesday at McGregor Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Johnnie was born December 26, 1955 in Waco, the son of Johnnie J. and Rose Marie (Klish) Uptmore. He graduated from Richfield High School in 1974 prior to attending TSTC. On May 8, 1993, he was united in marriage to Teresa Atkinson in Las Vegas, NV. Teresa preceded him in death on September 16, 2010. Johnnie worked as a senior lineman for Texas Power & Light in Euless, Flowers Construction and OLS Electric. He also took mission trips to Haiti with Church Under the Bridge. Johnnie was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco. He enjoyed swimming, going to the beach, scuba diving, barbecuing, eating at Poppa Rollos and drinking cold beer. Johnnie was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Linda Sharp; and a fianc, MaryLynn Hooker. Survivors include his daughters, Sara Guess and husband Reid of Woodway and Carly Webb and husband Cory of McGregor; grandchildren, Lucy, Miles, Elliot, Sadie and Emmi; sisters, Karen Nolan, Melissa Dailey and husband Kenneth and Tammi Hall and husband David; his girlfriend, Terri Murphy; nephews, Francis Michael Sharp Jr, Cory Garcia, Tyler Garcia and Austin Dailey; nieces, Rebecca Nolan and Kelsie Burchfield; and many other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Dale Whitehouse, David Gonzales, Cory Garcia, Kenny Matheson, David Hall and Cory Webb. Honorary pallbearers are Tyler Garcia, Francis Michael Sharp, Jr., Austin Dailey, Taylor Sharp, Reid Guess and Jason Damon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Fuzzy Friends of Waco.
