Johnnie Pustejovsky

Johnnie Otto Pustejovsky, age 84, of Abbott, passed away late Sunday evening, July 2, 2023 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.


A rosary will be recited  6:00 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday July 8, 2023, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Thomas Jones and Msgr. Publius Xuereb as con-celebrants, assisted by Deacon Terry Timmons and Deacon Denver Crawley. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery in Abbott.


Johnnie was born July 7, 1938 in Abbott, the son of John and Annie (Bezdek) Pustejovsky. He was a 1957 graduate of Abbott High School. On April 18, 1959 he was united in marriage to Mary Polansky in West and they farmed together all of their life until his retirement. Johnnie was a life-long and faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. He served as an extraordinary minister and was a catechist for 19 years in the religious education program. Johnnie was a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council #11230 and a member of the KJT #107 in Abbott. He enjoyed the outdoors and taking camping and fishing trips with his children and grandchildren.


Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents; his siblings and in-laws, Christine and John Polansky, Frank and Glenora Pustejovsky, Henry and Willie Mae Pustejovsky, Wesley and Janell Pustejovsky, and Clement and Rita Pustejovsky; a brother-in-law, Jerry Kostroun; a daughter-in-law, Wanda Pustejovsky; and a granddaughter, Kristy Nors.


Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Mary Pustejovsky of Abbott; his children and their spouses, Charlie and Annette Pustejovsky, Agnes and Terry Timmons, Ed Pustejovsky, Ben Pustejovsky, Ernie Pustejovsky, Nick and Shelly Pustejovsky, Bob and Traci Pustejovsky, and Andy and Joanie Pustejovsky, all of Abbott; his grandchildren, Dale and Julie Pustejovsky, Michael and Chrystal Pustejovsky, Bobby and Katie Nors, Dave and Natalie Timmons, Patrick and Lacey Timmons, Sarah Timmons and fiancé Peter Phet, Kevin Pustejovsky, Sherry and Jackie Newman, Wesley Pustejovsky, Blake and Beka Pustejovsky, Brock Pustejovsky, Trena Pustejovsky, Jeremy and Kayla Pustejovsky, Emily Pustejovsky, Joshua and Morgan Pustejovsky, Nolan Pustejovsky, Lydia Pustejovsky, Molli Pustejovsky, Mariann Pustejovsky, Ryan Pustejovsky, and Allison Pustejovsky; his great-grandchildren, Avery, Abby, Gunner and Remington Pustejovsky, Matthew Hauseman, Brandon and Gracelyn Collins, Ann and Zoe Orr, Grace and Lily Nors, Noah and Evan Timmons, Landon and Maxon Pustejovsky and Baby Henry on the way; his in-laws, Frank Polansky, Johnnie and Nancy Polansky, Agnes Kostroun, Raymond and Nachelle Polansky, and Jimmy Polansky; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Active pallbearers will be his children.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott or to the charity of your choice.
