Johnie Alois Hynek

Johnie Alois Hynek, age 82, of Penelope, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Church of the Nativity BVM in Penelope, with Rev. Gary Swirczynski as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Johnie was born on June 20, 1925 in Tokio, the son of Vaclav and Theresa (Marek) Hynek. He attended Tokio schools and on October 22, 1945 he was united in marriage to Irene (Bartosh) Hynek at the Blessed Church of the Nativity in Penelope. Johnie was a farmer all of his life until his retirement in 1996. He served on the Penelope School Board and the church council for many years. He also worked as an RVOS Sales Representative and Appraiser for twenty years. Johnie enjoyed watching wrestling, welding, and working in his shop. He was a member of RVOS Lodge #49 and Church of the Nativity BVM in Penelope. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joe Hynek; his sister Mary Polansky; and his parents-in-law, Joe and Mary Bartosh. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Irene of Penelope; two daughters, JoAnn Taylor and husband Lonnie of Elm Mott and Anita Kaluza and husband Willie of West; one son Larry Hynek and wife Virginia of Chalk Bluff; six grandchildren, Donald Taylor and wife Dawn, Jason Taylor, Travis Taylor, Rachel Gerik and husband Aubrey, Lisa Kucera and husband Frank, Casey Church and husband Doug; six great-grandchildren, Cody Taylor, Chad Taylor, Jayden Gerik, Kannon Gerik, Macey Kucera, and Laney Kucera; two sisters, Hattie Svrcek of West and Christine Beside of Abbott; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers will be Donald Taylor, Jason Taylor, Travis Taylor, Aubrey Gerik, Frank Kucera, and Gary Grones. Memorials may be made to the Church of the Nativity BVM in Penelope or West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
