John Rauschhuber, Sr.

John Rauschhuber, age 94, of West, passed away early Monday morning, May 2, 2022. A Rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with a visitation to follow. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2022 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Anthony Rauschuber as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery in Tours. John was born May 18, 1927 in Wichita Falls, the son of Alois and Louise (Willenborg) Rauschhuber. He attended St. Mary's Catholic School in Wichita Falls. John was united in marriage on March 5, 1957 to Bertha Mach in Elk. Bertha preceded him in death on October 5, 1992. John was a faithful member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours where he served as an Usher, President of St. Martin Parish Council and Eucharistic Minister. He also served as President of Hilltop Water and was a regular blood donor for Red Cross. In the early 1950's, John and his brother Raymond traveled throughout the southern part of the United States picking cotton with one of the first commercial mechanical cotton pickers. In the early 1960's, John established and owned Rauschhuber T. V. and Appliance serving his customers with pride for 31 years. John was always one of the top ten dealers achieving many G.E. Sales Awards thus enabling him to travel the world with his wife, Bertha. He also owned Rauschhuber's True Value Hardware in Mart for 15 years. After his retirement, he converted his T.V. shop into a domino hall playing dominoes with his friends. John enjoyed playing cards with his family and on his computer, woodworking, and math puzzles. He loved traveling and spending time with his family. John also traveled numerous times with Father Isidore to Vegas and Elkhart. John is also preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Mary Rauschhuber; brothers, Eddie Rauschhuber, Frank Rauschuber, Raymond Rauschuber, and Patrick Rauschhuber; and sisters, Edna Thun, Irene Brem, and Louise Bartosh. Survivors include his children, Alvin Rauschhuber and wife Shelly of Royse City, John Rauschhuber Jr. and wife Lynette of Waco, Paula Gentle and husband Jerry of Youngsville, NC, and Janice Hornsby and husband Scott of West; brother, Alois Rauschhuber and wife Ellen of Santa Clara, CA; sisters-in-law, Helen Rauschuber, and Nancy Rauschuber King; ten grandchildren, Melinda Dunn and husband Thomas, Kayla Knight and husband Brandon, Shannon Smith and husband Joey, Brandon Chilcutt, Aaron Rauschhuber, Matthew Gentle, Sarah Gentle, Emily Gentle, Jacob Hornsby, and Rebekah Hornsby; four great-grandchildren, Braylon, Ryleigh, Tenley, and Colton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Aaron Rauschhuber, Matthew Gentle, Jacob Hornsby, Thomas Dunn, Brandon Knight, Joey Smith and Bill Coleman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin Cemetery, St. Martin CCE Center or St. Elizabeth Altar Society. The family would like to thank the staff of Interim Hospice Care and caregivers from Home Instead for taking care of John. We want to give a special thank you to Vicky Buttry for her many years of friendship and service to the "old man".
