John E. Kasik Jr., age 71, of Bellmead, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, September 7, 2022 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.
Funeral Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 12, 2022 at the West Brethren Church, with Rev. Gerry Davis officiating. Burial will follow at West Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West.
John was born January 2, 1951 in Hillsboro, the son of John and Marguerite (Haisler) Kasik. He attended school in Penelope and was a 1969 graduate of Penelope High School. He then graduated from McLennan Community College with an Associates Degree in Accounting and also received a certificate in automotive technology from Texas State Technical College. On December 30, 1972 he was united in marriage to Joan Bordovsky in Elk. John was a longtime member of the West Brethren Church and also a member of the SPJST Lodge #54 in West. His passion was farming and ranching. He also worked for General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco and as an independent long haul truck driver. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, volunteering in many of the surrounding communities, dancing to polka music, and playing cards and dominoes with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren.
John is preceded in death by his father, John Ernest Kasik Sr.; a son, Kevin Kasik; and a sister, Mona Francis Kasik.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Joan Kasik of Bellmead; his mother, Marguerite Kasik of Penelope; his children, Brian Kasik and wife Christine of Rockport, Jason Kasik of Frisco, John E. Kasik III of Bellmead, Amanda Gilson and husband Sean of Edmond, OK, and Mona Kasik of Dallas; his grandchildren, Hannah Leutwyler and husband C.J., Ashlyn Kasik, Bradley Gilson, and Bennett Gilson; his sisters, Sylvia Niemeyer and husband Rick, Cynthia Cockburn, Teresa Orr, and Nina Boyett; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Jeremy Cockburn, Richard Coburn, Justin Orr, Brandon Orr, Gary Niemeyer, Randy Niemeyer, Cody Ledbetter, and Devin Orr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Post #4819 Auxiliary, West Brethren Church, or Penelope Volunteer Fire Department.
