John J.C. Mccartney

John Clinton "J.C." McCartney, age 74, of Gholson, passed away early Monday morning, December 11, 2017 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Gholson Cemetery, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. J.C. was born May 31, 1943 in Waco, the son of John and Wilma (Wilkins) McCartney. He attended schools in Gholson and West. On April 29, 1989, he was united in marriage to Janet Trammell in Waco. J.C. worked in concrete construction, building many slabs for Waco businesses and homes until his retirement in 2007. He also was a dairyman for several years. J.C. enjoyed farming, raising goats, rebuilding tractors and spending time with family and friends. J.C. is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Fred McCartney. Survivors include his wife, Janet L. McCartney of Gholson; two sons, Bryan McCartney and fiance DeAnna of Gholson and Randy Spence and Gena of Gholson; two daughters, Christie McKinney and husband Nick of Chalk Bluff and Christi Osborne and Jeff of Temple; four grandchildren, Jamie Karl and husband Dylan, Kaden Benfer, Braden Benfer and Sam Osborne; one great-grandson, Rhyder Karl; and several other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are Allan McCartney, Todd Binnion, Nick McKinney, Nick Straten, Dylan Karl, Leonardo Delgado, Kaden Benfer, Braden Benfer and Rhyder Karl.
