John David Nichols

February 23, 1965 — August 3, 2011

John David Nichols, age 46, of North Richland Hills, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 3, 2011 at his residence. A Memorial Mass of Resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Colleyville with the Rev. Richard Eldredge as celebrant. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home in Colleyville. John was born on February 23, 1965 in Waco, the son of Jerry and Dorothy (Jerabek) Nichols. He graduated from L. D. Bell High School in 1983. He graduated from Texas Tech University where he received a bachelor's degree in real estate finance in 1988. John was a man who loved life and embraced it. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing football, and just being with family and friends. He had the ability to touch the heart of anyone he met and was a man of strong faith, integrity, courage and hope. Although faced with much adversity over his life, John never gave up the dream to be independent and someday walk again. He lived everyday to its fullest and would do anything to help someone in need. His belief in life was, "Don't quit" and "Never, ever give up hope." He was the founder of the Neuro Fitness Foundation. Survivors include his parents, Jerry and Dorothy Nichols; a sister, Kay Nichols-Avett; nephew, John Michael Avett; niece, Taylor Avett; girlfriend, Theresa Thompson; numerous other relatives and hundreds of beautiful friends; his Sigma Phi Epsilon brothers; and his dogs, Rufus and Millie. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the John Nichols Memorial Fund Neuro Fitness Foundation, %National Bank of Texas, 2080 Precinct Line Road, Hurst, Texas 76054.
