John Casey

John Casey, age 74, of Abbott, Texas, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, February 5, 2025 at Providence Hospital in Waco.

A Funeral Service will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 10, 2025 at Abbott Baptist Church, with Pastor Levin Ainsworth officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at Abbott Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until 12 noon Monday at the church.

John was born on August 27, 1950, in Houston, Texas, to Jerry and Annette (Mainor) Casey. A proud graduate of Lamar High School in Houston, John followed his passion for service by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps, bravely serving during the Vietnam War. On October 25, 1975, he married the love of his life, Sarah Wilcox, in Houston. Together, they built a warm and loving home in Abbott, Texas, where John's dedication to family and work flourished. He enjoyed a long and rewarding career at Oak Farms Dairy, where his commitment to quality and teamwork made him a respected figure in the milk production industry. He had a passion for life, relishing the simple joys of working on computers, barbecuing for family gatherings, and fishing in his younger years. His greatest joy, however, came from spending time with his beloved family. He cherished every moment with his daughters and delighted in the mischief of his grandchildren.

John is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Erin Perez; and brothers, Carl Casey, Joel Butler, Jerry Casey, and James Casey.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 49 years years, Sarah Casey of Abbott; daughters, Jessica Casey and Amber Lewis; grandchildren, Jordan Carlton, Tarik and Brooke Lewis, Nathaniel Lewis, Micah Casey, Marcel Lewis, Chyanne and Garret Sharp, and Christopher and Caitlyn Perez; great-grandson, Barret Sharp; brothers, Scott Butler, Kevin and Denise Fletcher, and Keith and Virginia Fletcher; sister, Patricia Contreras; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are Tarik Lewis, Nathaniel Lewis, Micah Casey, Marcel Lewis, Christopher Perez, and Garret Sharp. Honorary pallbearers are Jordan Carlton, Chyanne Sharp, Brooke Lewis, Caitlyn Perez, and Barret Sharp.
