Joe R. "Jodie" Stanislav, age 90, of Waco, died peacefully Saturday morning, September 6, 2014. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Monday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church in Waco, with Rev. John Guzaldo as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Joe was born July 4, 1924 in West, the son of Joe and Martha (Mashek) Stanislav. He grew up in West and attended West schools prior to joining the U.S. Navy during World War II. Joe served in the Pacific Theater, mostly in Guam until the end of the war. He was united in marriage to Mildred Pratka on July 7, 1947 in West. Joe worked for Dewitt Clark Lumber Co. after returning from the service. From there he worked for C.O. Miller Beer Distributorship, Shadowland in West, General Tire, Reicher Catholic High School, and retired from Ridgewood Country Club. During Joe's 28 years of retirement he volunteered for St. Louis Catholic Church and School and Reicher Catholic High School. Joe was an usher at St. Louis Catholic Church for more than 40 years. He drove the bus for Reicher's athletic teams for many years. Joe enjoyed all of his children's and grandchildren's school and sporting events throughout the years. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Alfred "Fritz" Stanislav and Robert Stanislav. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mildred; daughters, Katherine Aufman and husband Bill, Dorothy Fritz and husband Ron, Kim Bolfing and husband Jerry; grandchildren, Connie Jones IV and wife Shana, Jodi Marie Jones, Matthew Aufman and wife Shannon, Martha Aufman Whitney and husband Simon, Beau Bolfing, Shelby Jo Bolfing, and Molly Bolfing, great-grandchildren, Alec, Kaitlynne and Isabellah Jones, sister-in-law, Barbara Stanislav, brother-in-law, Daniel Pratka and wife Evelyn, and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his 7 grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. John Speckmiear; the Hillcrest CHF Clinic staff including Alicia, Celie and Jakayla; and the staff at Regent Care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Louis School or Reicher Catholic High School.
