Joe L. Sinkule, Sr.

Joe L. Sinkule, Sr., age 91, of Abbott, passed away late Tuesday night, March 7, 2006 at Town Hall Estates in Hillsboro. The family will receive visitors from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. A rosary will be recited following the visitation at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Msgr. Frank Miller as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. Mr. Sinkule was born May 31, 1914 in the Tokio community, the son of Matthew and Frances (Hejl) Sinkule. He was raised and attended school in Tokio. On November 18, 1937 he was united in marriage to Mary Pustejovsky in West. They settled in the Chatt area to raise a family and farm his land. He found tremendous joy in farming and bringing in the harvest and overseeing his cattle. After his retirement from farming and ranching he spent his final years traveling the farm in his white pickup watching the land yield its harvest. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott where he formerly served on the parish council. Joe was a member of the K.J.T. Society No. 107 in Abbott. He enjoyed playing Taroky, listening to Czech music, dancing, and being outdoors. He especially loved his grandchildren and will be remembered for the optimism and laughter that he brought to every person he met. His parents; a brother, Jim Sinkule; and four sisters, Rose Sinkule, Frances Nors, Stacy Soukup, and Lillian Sinkule; all preceded him in death. Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Mary Sinkule of Abbott; one son, Joe L. Sinkule, Jr. and wife Eugenia of Abbott; three daughters, Molly Spinks and husband Paul of Richardson, Sandra Krusos and husband Jim of Allen, and Nancy Tichavsky and husband Harry of China Spring; two brothers, Jerry Sinkule and Johnnie Sinkule; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are his grandsons, Michael Spinks, Brian Sinkule, Troy Sinkule, Joe Pavlas, Stephen Pavlas, and Clint Tichavsky. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Youth Group Scholarship Fund or the charity of your choice.
