Joe Victor "Pepicek" Kadlubar, age 87, of Elm Mott, passed away early Thursday morning, August 4, 2022 at his residence.
A rosary will be recited and a Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at National Cemetery near West, conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard.
Joe was born September 7, 1934 in McLennan County in the Hoen community, the son of Joe and Annie (Domesle) Kadlubar. He attended the old Leggett School and St. Mary's School in West, as well as TSTC in Waco. On April 23, 1960 he was united in marriage to Leona Kucera in West. Leona preceded him in death on January 18, 2022. Joe proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War stationed in Germany. Joe was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. He was also a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Post #4819 in West. Joe worked for Waco Veterans Administration Hospital in Waco for 30 years before retiring in 1985 and then worked as a janitor for the West Independent School District for 15 years until retirement. Joe enjoyed fishing, working outdoors, dancing, listening to polka music, playing dominoes, working on his old pickup and Oliver tractor, and tending to his sheep, goats and donkeys. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Joe loved to joke and visit with people, always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger.
Joe is also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Bernard Kadlubar; sisters-in-law, Merlene Kadlubar and Rosie Atkins; and a brother-in-law, Edwin Kucera.
Survivors include his daughter, Sharon Gatlin and Mark Veselka of Elm Mott; grandchildren, Miranda Gatlin and Casey Carpenter, Lexi Gatlin and her fiance Colton Sandell, and Tristan Gatlin; a brother, Jerry Kadlubar; three sisters-in-laws, Mary Kadlubar, Hattie Kadlubar, Margie Kucera; a brother-in-Law, Bill Kucera and wife Louise; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
