Joe J. Mynarcik Jr., age 94, of West, passed away late Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2016 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2016 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Joe was born January 1, 1922 in West, the son of Otillie (Macicek) and Joseph J. Mynarcik Sr. He attended Ross School. Joe served his country with the United States Army Air Corp during World War II as an electrical specialist before being honorably discharged. On November 20, 1946 he was united in marriage to Marie Pustejovsky. Marie preceded him in death on January 27, 2014. Joe worked for the West Independent School District for over 15 years before retiring in 1987. Prior to that he worked many years for Cameron Mills, General Dynamics, Foremost Dairies and Village Bakery. Joe was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where he served as an usher and on the parish council. He was also a member of the KJT Society #31, SPJST Lodge #66 and the American Legion Post #478. Joe enjoyed dancing, gardening and being outdoors. He especially loved watching the Texas Rangers and all sports. Joe was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edmund Mynarcik, Bill Mynarcik and Dan Mynarcik; and sisters, Agnes Zatopek and Victoria Cvikel. Survivors include sons, Larry Mynarcik and wife Diana, Michael Mynarcik and wife Sara and Joey Mynarcik III, all of West; a daughter, Pat Filer and husband David of West; sister, Lillie Popp and husband Kenneth; brother, Louis Mynarcik Sr.; sister-in-law, Rosemary Mynarcik and Martha Ann Pustejovsky; brother-in-law, Adolph Zatopek; grandchildren, Laurie Craig and husband Bob, Larry Mynarcik Jr. and wife Jennifer, Jana Polansky and husband David, Sherry Hueske and husband Billy, Kimberly Andrae and husband James, Alexander Mynarcik and wife Kara, Philip Mynarcik and wife Lauren; great grandchildren, Cailey, Clayton, Macie, Dakota, Matthew, Blane, Morgan, Stockton, Slade and Sterling; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Alex Mynarcik, Philip Mynarcik, Larry Mynarcik Jr., Bob Craig, David Polansky, James Andrae, Billy Hueske and Clayton Hudson. Honorary pallbearers are Stockton Mynarcik, Sterling Mynarcik and Slade Andrae. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund.
