Joe Marvin Dickey, age 65, of Whitney, passed from this earth to join our Father in Heaven on Sunday morning, August 6, 2017 at his residence. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Lawrence Junek officiating. Joe was born May 6, 1952 in Brownwood, the son of Barbara (Hair) and Marvin Dickey, Jr. He was a 1970 graduate of Brownwood High School before attending Tarleton State and Howard Payne Universities. Joe went on to receive an Associate's Degree in Electronics from TSTC. On May 16, 1975 he was united in marriage to Geraldine Myers in Brady. Joe was a self employed carpenter, a truck driver, a security officer, an EMT and a Licensed Jailer. He also owned Daddy Joe's Smoked BBQ. Joe was a member of the Open Range Cowboy Church in Whitney. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, rattlesnake round-ups, woodworking and taking care of his horses and cattle. He especially loved spending time with his family. Joe is preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Dickey; a sister, Helen Weathermon; and brothers-in-law, Garry Myers and Glenn Myers. Survivors include his wife, Geraldine and children Joanna Temples and husband Gary and son Cody Dickey and wife Katie; step daughter, Cynthia Kite and adopted son, Richard Sampson and wife April; his father, Marvin D. Dickey; grandchildren, LaVon Lammers and husband Robert, Kamala and Colleen Dickey, Brittney Stark and Lucas Stark, Becca Kite, Haley Norman and husband Chris, Ricky Sampson and Joe Sampson; great granddaughters, Penelope and Layla; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses.
