Jodie Weldon Klanika, age 68 of Leroy, passed away Saturday, March 17, 2007 at his residence after a lengthy battle with cancer. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Gerald Cemetery with Chaplain Ron Hill officiating. Jodie was born December 24, 1938 in Leroy, the son of Frank and Christine (Novak) Klanika. He attended school in Leroy. He worked as a farmer and rancher most of his life around the Leroy area and also worked for Fleetwood Homes in Bellmead. Jodie later worked in maintenance for Target Drive Inn before retiring in 1995. He enjoyed gardening, listening to the radio, and spending time with his grandchildren. Jodie will be missed very much. He is preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, Dwight Klanika and Melvin Klanika. Survivors include his mother, Christine Klanika of Leroy; one son, Anthony Klanika and wife Marlisa of Navarro Mills; three daughters, Shelia Klanika of Leroy, Karla Fouts and husband James of Navarro Mills, and Amanda Hoskins and husband Nick of Temple; one brother, Charlie Klanika of Mt. Calm; five grandchildren, Taylor, Sarah, A'lara, Jodie, and McKenzie; many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
