Jinger Quillian Myers, age 69, long-time resident of Gholson, passed away Monday night, September 25, 2023 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple.
A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson, with Rev. John Woodard and Rev. Todd Pick officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West.
Jinger was born August 30, 1954 in Waco, the daughter of Rozell "Jack" and Sallie (Mitchiner) Quillian. She was a 1972 graduate of West High School. Following high school, she received a Bachelors of Science degree in Education and Special Education from East Texas State University in 1976. She received her Masters Degree in Special Education and School Administration from San Diego State University in 1994.
Jinger was a beloved member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson, where she served as choir director for many years. She was active in her community serving as Chairman of the Zoning and Planning Committee for the City of Gholson, a member of the Gholson Birthday Club, and was former Mayor of Gholson. Jinger worked in education in Texas and California for many years. She enjoyed her dog Daisy and her cats, visiting with friends, traveling, listening to music, reading her Bible, and going on new adventures. Jinger had a servant's heart and loved giving back to her community. She brought joy to everyone she encountered, loved life, and lived it to the fullest.
Jinger is preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Phillip Baxter.
Survivors include her sister, Mary Ann Baxter of Houston; a son, Joseph Myers and wife Jessica of Seymour; grandchildren, Madison Myers and Kylie Myers; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are David Nors, Kevin Nors, Brandon Nors, Mike Davis, Andrew King, Connor King, Gary Bird, and Joshua Rush.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, MD Anderson Cancer Research for Anal Cancer, or Baylor Scott & White All Saints Health Foundation.
The family would like to thank the nurses, staff, and physicians at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple Cardiac ICU for their love and compassion.
