Jim Hand

Jim Hand, age 67, of Ross, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 2, 2024 at Baylor Scott and White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.

Graveside Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 7, 2024 at White Rock Cemetery near Ross, with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West.

Jim was born January 31, 1957 in Waco, the son of the late John and Edythe (Goff) Hand. He was a 1975 graduate of Connally High School. On June 11, 1977 he was united in marriage to Gladys Polansky in West. He worked as a mechanic for Sears Service Center in Waco for over 25 years. Following his retirement from Sears, he owned Handmade BAR-B-Q catering service and worked for Pure Water Supply and Chalk Bluff Water Supply. Jim also had an amateur pilot license in his younger years and flew his plane when time allowed. He enjoyed camping, hunting, cooking, gardening, and entertaining friends and family.  Jim loved spending time with his sons, their wives, and especially, his grandchildren.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 47 years, Gladys Hand; two sons, Doug Hand and wife Elizabeth of Ross, and Greg Hand and wife Beatriz, of Ross; his grandchildren, Adalyn, Kade, Jameson, and Samuel Hand; two brothers, John Hand, and Barry Hand and his wife Reyna; a sister, Brenda Jones and her husband Milton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Clint Pratka, James Srubar, Josh Holobaugh, Seth Holobaugh, Jaime Hand, James Schroeder, Travis Cunningham, Keith Hutyra, Kyle Fuller, and Cash Fuller.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to White Rock Cemetery Association or the American Cancer Society.
