Jewel Maedean Helm

Jewel Maedean Helm, age 85, of Cedar Hill, formerly of Waco and West, passed away Sunday morning, November 28, 2010 at Crestview Nursing Home in Cedar Hill. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Bible Way Church, 2800 Gurley Avenue in Waco, with Rev. John Helm, Rev. Joshua Helm, Rev. David Arnett and Rev. Lee Farmer officiating. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Gerald Cemetery near Leroy. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Helm was born August 15, 1925 in Waco, the daughter of Robert Leroy and Elizabeth Mae (Patton) Watkins. She attended schools in the Waco area. On December 20, 1945, she was united in marriage to James Felix Helm in Waco. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1988. Jewel was a mother and homemaker. She enjoyed singing songs, writing poems and sharing great memories of time spent with her family, church and many friends. She was a member of House of Prayer in Waco and Cross Connection Fellowship in Red Oak. Her parents; a son, Robert T. Helm; two step sons, William E. Helm and Kenneth D. Helm; and a brother, Robert Watkins, also preceded her in death. Survivors include a son, John R. Helm and wife Debra of Ferris; a step son, James Thomas Helm and wife Margaret of Fredericksburg; a step daughter, Marie St. John of Ft. Worth; a step daughter-in-law, Ella Mae Helm of Bellmead; a brother, Ray N. Watkins and wife Ruby of Waco; three grandchildren, Christel Boggs and husband David, Joshua Helm and wife Brandy and Nathan Helm and wife Amber; six great grandchildren, Caleb, Sydney, Jensen, Tanner, Jayden and London; seven step grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are David Boggs, E.C. Prickett, Justin Arnett, Brandon Reese, Daron Farmer, and Lonnie Glosson.
