Jesse Ray Reed, age 75, of West, passed away Wednesday morning, March 29, 2006 at his residence. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with the Dr. John Crowder officiating. Military honors will follow conducted by V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. Mr. Reed was born on May 1, 1930 in Hillsboro, the son of Togo and Emilie (Kral) Reed. He graduated from Abbott High School in 1948. In serving his country, he joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. On June 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Johnson in West. He worked as a service technician for Sears Roebuck & Company in Houston for eighteen years. He also worked as a jigs and fixture builder for Ling Tempco Vought until his retirement in 1995. Jesse loved music and the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, camping and boating. He was a member of V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West and First Baptist Church of West. He is preceded in death by a son, Terry Reed, who died on January 8, 1971, and a sister Lola Coker, who died in April of 2000. Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Shirley Ann Reed of West; two sons, Ronnie Reed and wife Paula of Leroy and Michael Reed and wife Kim of West; one daughter, Peggy Loser and husband Ferman of Ft. Worth; one sister, Tracy Ernest and husband Robert of Denton; six grandchildren, Emilie & Jesse Smith, Keith Reed, Caitlyn Reed and Jarrett Reed, Corey Loser, Lindsey one great-grandchild, Ian; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to West Ambulance Association and the American Cancer Society.
