Jerry Wayne Veselka, age 75, of China Spring, passed away late Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2024 at his residence.
Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, with Deacon Terry Timmons officiating. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Jerry was born December 7, 1948 in Waco, the son of Henry and Agnes (Snider) Veselka. He was a 1967 graduate of Bishop Louis Reicher High School in Waco prior to receiving an associate degree in business from McLennan Community College in 1970. On July 28, 2009 he was united in marriage to Mary Louise Bronar in Las Vegas. Jerry was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church in China Spring. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305 in West and the Teamsters Union Local #745 in Dallas. From 1976 until his retirement in 2003 he worked for Central Freight and Yellow Freight in Waco. Jerry enjoyed hunting Whitetail deer in Llano County, riding the back roads with good friends and a favorite drink, having a morning cup of coffee, going to the Winstar and Harrah's casinos, and watching John Wayne and Roy Rogers movies. He was a conservative Christian republican. He and his wife Mary traveled to many places including Bethlehem, Dublin, Ireland, Barcelona, Sevilla, Jerusalem, Italy, Crete, Athens, Nassau, Cozumel, Bora Bora, Sydney, Tahiti, Rome, Hawaii, and many others.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Clara Veselka.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 15 years, Mary Bronar-Veselka of China Spring; his siblings, Henry Veselka Jr. and wife Dolores of China Spring, Connie Caldwell and husband George of China Spring, Steve Veselka and wife Pamela of Crawford, Paula Corfield and husband Rodger of China Spring, and Vince Veselka of Waco; his children, Robert Bronar and wife Joddi of Maypearl, and Diane Skipworth of Desoto; his grandchildren, Megan and Dillon; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bishop Louis Reicher High School.
