Jerry Stanislav

Jerry Stanislav, 91 of West passed away Monday, July 2, 2007, at West Rest Haven, in West. Rosary and visitation with the family will be from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kotch Funeral Home in West on Wednesday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Jerry was a farmer and rancher until 1978. He then drove a bus for the West Independent School District for ten years. He was a lifelong member of the Church of the Assumption in West where he served as an usher for many decades. Mr. Stanislav's hobbies included watching his sons, and later his grandsons, play baseball. He also enjoyed sitting in his recliner and watching the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Mike Stanislav in 2005 and a grandson, Michael Maguire in 1973. He is survived by his wife of sixty six years, Estelle of West, a daughter, Jeanie Maguire and husband Jim of West, one son, Jerry W. Stanislav and wife, Tina of the Woodlands, TX and a daughter-in-law, Karen Stanislav of Waco. Grandchildren include Kathleen Kruger and her husband Richard of Lorena, Susan Cooper of Austin, Brian Maguire and his wife, Tracey of Macon, GA, Scott Stanislav of College Station and Kyle Stanislav of Waco. Great-grandchildren include Matt Kruger and his wife Julie of Kingwood, TX, Andrew Kruger of College Station, Jason Kruger of Lorena and Chris Cooper of Austin. Siblings include Tina Needham of Syracuse, NY, Lucille Wernet of West and Margaret Clark of Dallas. Active Pallbearers will be Scott Stanislav, Kyle Stanislav, Brian Maguire, Dan Vanek, Johnny Vanek and Steve Vanek. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Parish Center in West.
