Jerry Sinkule, Jr.

Jerome Anton "Jerry" Sinkule Jr., age 67, of West, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2024 at his residence.


A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 26, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.


Jerry was born March 1, 1956 in Waco, the son of Jerry and Margaret (Grmela) Sinkule. He was a 1974 graduate of West High School. Jerry was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Jerry served on the Aquilla-Hackberry Creek Conservation District Board and was a manager at the West Fertilizer Plant for 38 years until the April 17, 2013 explosion occurred. He then went to work for Myatt Fuels in West. Jerry enjoyed reading, gardening, canning, cooking, working at his family ranch, and eating and visiting with his friends at Czech American. In the course of his business career with West Fertilizer Plant and Myatt Fuel he knew every farmer and rancher within 60 miles of West. Jerry befriended many of them and helped them in any way he could. He will be greatly missed by all the farm and ranch community. Jerry loved family gatherings, Fried Chicken Sunday dinners, and especially time spent with his nieces, nephews, and their children.


Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Bridget Sinkule; and a brother, Robert Sinkule.


Survivors include his siblings, Tim Sinkule and wife Tammy of China Spring, Joni Pilgrim and husband Larry of Ross, and Mark Sinkule and wife Jackie of West; nieces, Tennille Pilgrim and Danny Coker, Rachel Harrington and husband Nick, and Holly Metzke and husband Joe; nephews, Cody Harris and wife Breana, Ryan Sinkule and Kate Harrison, Chad Sinkule and wife Sadie, Mark Sinkule Jr. and wife Brittney, and Zeb Sinkule; great nephews, Chase Harwell, Cade Harrington, Hollis Sinkule, and Axel Metzke; great nieces, Claire Harrington, Emery Harris, Annistyn Harris, Hadley Sinkule, Lainey Sinkule and Carly Coker; and many other relatives and friends.


Active pallbearers are Cody Harris, Nick Harrington, Chase Harwell, Mark Sinkule Jr., Zeb Sinkule, Ryan Sinkule, Chad Sinkule, and Joe Metzke. Honorary pallbearers are Ted Uptmore Sr., Frankie Skerik, Doug Pierce, David Pierce, Jim Hunt, and Reinhold Knust.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
