It is time to say our final good-byes and to celebrate their life with family and friends. Merlene Kadlubar passed unexpectedly on January 17, 2018 at her home in Round Rock Texas at the age of 74. On September 19, 2022, her husband, Jerry Frank Kadlubar, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 86. Upon request of Jerry, they will be remembered together and will be placed in their final resting place together as one. A rosary will be recited and Memorial Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Merlene was born August 13, 1943 in Electra, Texas to Clemmie Ann (Reeves) and Howard Farrel Ellis. She is preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings. She was beautiful as a young woman and did some modeling for Sears and Montgomery Wards. She served as a Special Education teacher’s assistant for the Round Rock School District. She was known as the neighborhood mother of many. She was famous for her stew and made big portions to feed the neighborhood crew. Most of all, Merlene was a loving mother of three sons.
Jerry was born on January 31, 1936 in Mount Calm to Anna Maria (Domesle) and Joe Charlie Kadlubar. He spent his childhood growing up in the Cottonwood area, near West. At the age of 17, Jerry joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He retired with 30 years of military service at the rank of Master Sergeant and spent 40 years as a civil service employee. He was a member of the 924th TFG Air Force Reserve unit. Jerry participated in the West Veterans Honor Guard and was an active member in the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, and the Knights of Columbus. He was known to be quite the social butterfly with a unique gift to be able to approach anybody and start a conversation. Upon retirement, he returned to his Czech Heritage in which he was very proud of, and he was always looking for someone to talk Czech with. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Joe and wife Leona, Robert, and Bernard, and brother-in-law Frazier Ellis.
Both Jerry and Merlene are survived by their three sons, Vincent Kadlubar, Jerry Kadlubar and Mark Kadlubar. Merlene is also survived by her sister Sue Campbell and her husband Doyle, and her sisters-in-law, Mary Kadlubar, Hattie Kadlubar, and Faye Ellis. In addition, both are survived by their grandchildren, Kaylee Kadlubar, Natalie Broyles and husband Trey, Amanda Kadlubar and Kathryn Kadlubar; their great-grandchildren, Jake and Logan Broyles; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
