Jerry Mccartney

Jerry McCartney, age 80, of Riesel, passed away late Friday evening, September 20, 2024 at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Temple.

A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Aubrey Rogers officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Jerry was born October 26, 1943 in Waco, the son of Frank and Lucille (Bettinger) McCartney. He attended schools in West. On June 29, 1991 he was united in marriage to Mary Williams in Harker Heights. Jerry was a member of New Road Church of Christ in Waco. He worked in construction as a commercial builder for most of his life. Jerry enjoyed ranching, golfing, and especially spending time with family and friends.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Bertha Mae Wright.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Mary McCartney of Riesel; children, Terrie Knudsen and husband Martin of Waco, Darrell McCartney and wife Rhonda of Whitney, Jarrell McCartney of Dallas, James McCartney and Ray King of Temple, and Rachael McCartney of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Valerie Swanner, Stephanie Sterling, Taylor Schull, Tanner Schull, and Riley Fuller; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; brother, Larry Joe McCartney and wife Janet of Gholson; sister, Barbara Breen of West; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
