Jerry Wayne Maler, age 78, of Whitney, passed away early Sunday evening, January 20, 2019, in Bedford. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 am Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Gerald Dudley officiating and Rev. Mark Griffin assisting. Burial will follow at Bold Spring Cemetery in West. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Jerry was born April 4, 1940 in Abbott, the son of Albert and Jimmie Dae (Altum) Maler. He attended Abbott High School. On September 7, 1979 he was united in marriage to Louise Patterson in Arlington. Louise preceded Jerry in death on October 2, 2018. Jerry was a member of Open Range Cowboy Church. He worked for General Motors for 33 years before retiring in 1993. Jerry enjoyed fishing and hunting, watching sports on television, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jerry is also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles Maler, John Earl Maler, Joe Ed Maler, James Maler and Jimmy Maler; and sister, Linda Whalen. Survivors include his brother, Kenneth Maler and wife Leona of West; sisters, Beulah Zahirnak and husband PeeWee of West, Beverly Keen of Whitney, and Janet Peterson of West; children, Richard Maler and wife Sue Ann of Corsicana, Karen Smith and husband Jody of Euless, Brenda Albright and husband Steve of Euless, Ross David and wife Meta of Boston; step-children, Debbie Esquivel of Arlington, Thomas Robles, Jr. of Grand Prairie, Tammy Peterson and husband Marvin of Whitney, Carmen Hall and husband Glenn of Senoia, GA; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one grandchild on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are B.J. Meloncon, Jeremy Johnson, Ryan Smith, Eric Maler, Luke Maler, and Jack Maler. Honorary pallbearers are Tiffany Marcks, Marlow David, Lee Peterson, Dana Peterson, Hector Esquivel, Danny Esquivel, Bruce Kovacicek, Gavin Hall, and Gracen Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
