Jerry Kazda

July 10, 1945 — April 4, 2020

Jerry Kazda, age 74, of Abbott, passed away Saturday evening, April 4, 2020 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Private Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott, with Rev. Brijil Lawrence officiating. Jerry will lie-in-state Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Jerry was born July 10, 1945 in Waco, the son of Louis and Mary (Pavlas) Kazda. He was a 1963 graduate of Abbott High School and a 1967 graduate of Texas A&M where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture Economics. On June 3, 1994 he was united in marriage to Deborah "Debbie" Cowan in Abbott. Debbie preceded him in death on September 24, 2014. Jerry served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 in West. He worked for Soil Conservation Service in Corsicana, Ft. Worth, San Marcos and Temple for over 36 years before retiring in December of 2000. Jerry enjoyed listening to Polka music and dancing. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Jerry is also preceded in death by his parents and a son, Chris Kazda. Survivors include his sons, Daryl Kazda and fiancée Denise of Abbott and Gary Kazda and wife Carrie of West; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Kazda of West; a stepson, Ron Nemec and wife Leidimar of Missouri City; a stepdaughter, Michelle Nemec of Hewitt; two brothers, John Kazda and wife Judy and Richard Kazda and wife Barbara; two sisters, Barbara Muehlstein and husband Frankie and Mary Carey and husband Dale; his beloved grandchildren, Bethany Kazda, Danielle Kazda, Parker Kazda, Will Kazda, Julia Kazda, Ricky Nemec, Brooke Kazda, and Clara Nemec; his great-grandchildren, Weston, Jaxton, and Lynnley; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are David Neill, Greg Pustejovsky, Dennis Bartosh, Teddy Mynar, Phil Pustejovsky, Ronnie Marak, Parker Kazda, and Will Kazda. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 of West.
