Jerry Grones, age 85, of West, passed away late Wednesday evening, September 10, 2014 at Providence Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Tom Franks as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Jerry was born September 18, 1928 in Abbott, the son of the late Jim and Albina (Kucera) Grones. He attended schools in Aquilla. Jerry served his country with the United States Army during World War II. On January 17, 1953 he was united in marriage to Josie Bartosh in Penelope. Jerry worked for Fleetwood Mobile Homes in Waco for 26 years before retiring in 1991. He also worked for Jax's Beer Company, Foremost Milk company and Bearkat's Music Company. Jerry was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He was also a member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #4819; K.J.T. Society #31, where he was recently recognized with a 75 year pin; West Bass Club; Waco Bass Club; and Mr. & Mrs. Bass Club. Jerry enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping, and working in his shop. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Josie Grones of West; a son, Gary Grones and wife Debby of Robinson; a granddaughter, Valerie Seidel and husband Shane; a sister, Lottie Knapek; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Larry Knapek. Eugene Knapek, Richard Bartosh, Charlie Girard, Larry Hynek and Ray Bartosh. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
