Jerry Girard

Jerry Girard, age 66, of Abbott, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 16, 2018 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at National Cemetery near West. Jerry was born November 28, 1951 in Waco, the son of Woodrow and Helen (Grmela) Girard. He attended St. Mary's School and West High School. On September 5, 1981 he was united in marriage to Sara Hutyra in Bellmead. Jerry was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He worked for West Auction Barn for 35 years. Jerry enjoyed raising cattle, deer hunting, camping, helping others, and watching western movies. He loved spending time with family and especially being a PaPa. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carolyn Jones; his brother, Lawrence Girard; and father-in-law, Freddie Hutyra. Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Sara Girard of Abbott; his children, Joni Girard of West, Brian Girard and wife Anne of Abbott, and Becky McAdams of Abbott; his brother, David Girard and wife Diane; sisters-in-law, Louise Girard and Diane Bekkelund and husband Bobbie; his mother-in-law, Josie Hutyra; grandsons, Wyatt McAdams and Connor Girard; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Brian Girard, David Girard, Tommy Girard, Joe Girard, Brandon Nielsen, Calvin Turner and Brian Uptmore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Cemetery Association or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
