Jerry A. Sinkule, age 89, of West, passed away early Sunday morning, November 12, 2006 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ed Karasek. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as Celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Sinkule was born April 28, 1917 on the family farm in the Tokio community, the son of Matt and Frances (Hejl) Sinkule. He was raised and attended schools in the Tokio and St. Mary's School in West. In serving his country, Jerry enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II for five years before being honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant in August of 1945. On April 11, 1955 he was united in marriage to Margaret Mary Grmela in West. Jerry was a farmer and rancher all of his life. He also worked for Fleetwood, Broadmore, Centurion, and Richardsons' all for over 30 years before retiring in 1985. Jerry was a member of Knights of Columbus #2305 and a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and especially spending time with his grandchildren. His parents; a daughter, Bridget Sinkule; a son, Robert Sinkule; and seven brothers and sisters; all preceded him in death. Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Margaret Sinkule of West; three sons, Jerry Sinkule of West, Tim Sinkule and his wife Tammy of China Spring, and Mark Sinkule and his wife Jackie of West; a daughter, Joni Pilgrim and her husband Larry of Ross; one brother, Johnnie Sinkule of West; eight grandchildren, Tennille Pilgrim and her friend Brad Harwell, Rachel Harrington and her husband Nick, Mark Sinkule, Jr. Ryan Sinkule, Holly Sinkule, Chad Sinkule, Cody Harris, and Zeb Sinkule; one great-grandson, Chase Harwell and one great-granddaughter on the way; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center or St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.
