Jerell Scott, age 78, of China Spring, passed away Monday morning, February 14, 2022 at his residence. Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 18, 2022 at Prairie Grove Cemetery near Aquilla, with Rev. Todd Pick officiating, with military honors conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Jerell was born June 2, 1943 in the Tokio area near West, the son of Wade and Lola (Whalen) Scott. He attended schools in West. On September 1, 1962 he was united in marriage to Paulette Terry in West. Jerell proudly served his country with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819. He worked for Texas Farm Bureau, Central Freight Lines, and the United States Postal Service for many years. Jerell enjoyed bass fishing, hunting, barbecuing, and traveling. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jerell is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Douglas Ray Scott; a brother, Bill Scott; and sisters, Drue Pack and Jeanette Parker. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Paulette Scott of China Spring; his grandchildren, Wade and Hannah Scott and Rachel and Clint Brown; his great grandchildren, Nora Scott, Calvin Scott, and Evie Brown; a brother, Bob and Betty Scott; sisters, Mollie Holecek, Sandra and Mike McGee, and Jeanne and Ben Kapczynski; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
